Pre-Briefing for Session 146

GM’s Observations
- The following is the information provided to David to help him to plan how Grant and Ethan would tackle their raid of Marindar. Would they ransack the museum? Would they try to access the vaults? Or would they take on the Marindan Defenders who have some of the best 'loot'?
- In terms of where this information comes from, Ethan provides this information to Grant based on his observations whilst on Marindar. In other words, Ethan has done 'skunk work'.

Pre-Briefing information
- The Marindan Library has lots of clues as to the history of this timeline, and has a lot of information about the important Lords of Gossamer and their enemies.
- The information about Lords of Gossamer tallies up with Ethan's observations from Session 141. Interestingly, Shimrod seems to be an ally of the Lords of Gossamer. He is Marindar's most powerful sorcerer.
- In terms of enemies, it seems that the Draconian Empire is the primary adversary in this timeline, but there are creatures that can only be described as Demons who are also active on the Stair. Some of these Demons appear to allies, but others are enemies.
- In terms of artefacts worth stealing, this is what Ethan identified:
  • 1. Book of the Stair - found in the museum. Shows the general layout of the Stair surrounding Marindar.
    2. Elven music box - found in the museum. Bewitches all those who hear the singing.
    3. Power Ring - in use by the Marindan Defenders. Formidable thought-based weapon
    4. Elven chain armour - found in the museum against one of the Lords of Gossamer - Jalt (the mad elf). There is also a long-handled katana in the same display.
    5. Shimrod’s Wand - found in the museum. In this reality, Shimrod appears to be a hero. The wand is a channelling device.
    6. Spiked Mace - found in the museum, belonged to a dead Marindan Defender. Made of Nth metal. (GM's note - Hawkman/girl anyone?)
    7. Infinity Gauntlet - found in the museum, minus gemstones. Said to have belonged to a Titan. (GM's note - hahahahaha)
    8. Arc Rifle - found in the museum. This weapon is said to be ‘protoculture-based’, and built by Lord Turadok.
    9. Blade of Hoth - found in the museum, this is an ultra-cold sword which warps reality around it, causing temperatures to plummet.
    10. Horn of Heroes - found in the museum, there is imagery of summoning armies with this horn.
    11. Sword of Surtur - in the restricted section of the museum, this is a great sword, clad in a heavy bronze sheath. Said to belong to a demon.
    12. Dragonslayer - on loan to one of the Marindan Defenders, this is a great sword, enchanted to kill dragons.
    13. The Shadow Helm - in the restricted section of the museum, this helm is said to have once belonged to great Morgoth.
    14. Beguiling Jacinth - found in the museum, it is said that the wielder can charm or beguile any one.
    15. Banner of Shatterlight - found in the museum, it was enchanted by Vala herself and all who look upon it are inspired.
    16. Raen’s Spear - found in the museum, he was once a Lord of Gossamer and this is his spear that is apparently unbreakable and never misses.
    17. Mask of Valgir - found in the museum in the restricted section, this mask enables the wearer to change their face and appear as anyone else.
    18. Eternal Oil - a vial of this oil is on display in the museum. A ceramic jar which has been coated with the oil is on display and museum patrons are encouraged to attempt to damage it.
    19. Bifrost Helm - on display in the museum. This is a plain looking viking helm, but the story goes that the wearer can see the Bifrost rainbow bridges which lead to Asgard. (GM's note - yes, if we have Olympus in the game, why not Asgard too....)
    20. Singing Harp - on display in the museum.
    21. Eric’s Girdle - on display in the museum, Eric (Drake’s son) was once a Lord of Gossamer and this girdle made him stronger, faster and conferred upon him the power of flight.
    22. ‘Tsunami’ - on display in the museum is this powerful trident, which confers on the wielder the ability to control seas and waves.
    23. ‘Stormlord’ - on display in the museum is a sword which gives the wielder control over thunder and lightning.
    24. A pair of leather shoes - on display in the museum, which confer great running speed on the wearer.

    27. A rod of animal friendship, said to once belong to the god Hermes, this is on display in the museum.

    31. A Hellfire engine - a great enchanted forge which burns with demonic fire - found in the museum.

    35. A giant black-hafted maul, once the weapon of the Fire Giant King Snarr. Found in the museum.
    36. Two dark lances, taken from dark elf warriors in battle. Found in the museum.
