I think the easiest way to put it is that if every and all possible worlds are true, then every bit of fiction we've written exists not because we've written it but because we've just happened to put to paper one of the inexhaustible possibilities. there would probably be infinite worlds on the stair where our own reality was a storybook. So it's only a matter of how many Gossamer lords (including ones from our world) know about the stories of any other given world, because they all exist out there somewhere.... could be explained nicely by a gruff Lord "What, you thought you were special? You're nothing but a character too you know..." and lead to weird encounters where others who meet YOU are talking about your exploits on a starship or in fantasyland.
A. Bertram Chandler does a nice riff on this in The Dark Dimensions, where his hero John Grimes, visiting a mysterious alien artifact at the edge of the galaxy where the walls between the Coils of Time wear thin, meets a better-off version of himself (who stayed with his old flame) as well as fellow author Poul Anderson's dashing (and seductive) Dominic Flandry. In the midst of all the Serious Business of the alien investigation and to the irritation of many of the mission-oriented characters, hijinks ensue.
